While we try to finalize training times and locations for our Middle School and High School Girls players, there is a training opportunity for our HS Boys at Norwood Park today and Wednesday (4/16, 4/18) from 4:00-6:00, and Saturday 4/21 from 10:00-12:00. Norwood Park is located at 5801 N Natoma Ave Chicago, IL 60631. Look for Coach Brian Hayes. If you cannot find them, send a text to the club number at 773-270-1314 and we’ll get right back to you. Take your cleats, mouth guard, and water bottle.
The Chicago Wapiti Rugby Football Club was given special access to the USA Eagles’ practice in the week leading up to their big match against the All Blacks.
Wapiti players and coaches showed up for the last half hour of the teams practice on Tuesday Oct. 28th, and got to be up close and personal as the team came off the practice pitch and headed to the gym for some post-practice conditioning. The Wapiti cheered on the Eagles as they boarded the team bus back to the hotel. Some got an autograph or two, while others settled for a high-five, or a photo with a player.
The Wapiti and their supporters will be cheering on the Eagles again when they take on the All Blacks Saturday, November 1st at Soldier Field.
Over 100 kids turned out at Smith Park on Monday, Oct. 27 to welcome All Blacks players Ben Smith, Ben Franks, Jeremy Thrush, and Charles Piutau to Chicago. The All Blacks players graciously ran drills with the kids, posed for photographs, and signed autographs. Many thanks to the Chicago Park District for hosting the event and to World Sport Chicago for partnering with Chicago Wapiti in our joint bid to bring this experience to our players.
Involved in the effort were over a dozen Wapiti coaches, about the same number BAM coaches, the Chicago Riot RFC, Illinois Youth Rugby Association, and coaches from several suburban clubs, as well. Thanks to you all for your efforts.

Lots To Do At Practice This Weekend
Take a knee players, coaches and parents. It’s been a great season for Wapiti Rugby and to celebrate our last full session (rookie rugby through tackle) we’ve got several things planned, including an earlier start time of 1pm.
Practice on this last full Sunday of our season (June 15th) will start at 1pm and go till 3pm and what better a way to spend Father’s Day than playing rugby and having a cookout in the park.
Please, check with your coaches to make doubly sure before thinking this is your last Wapiti event this season. There are some tackle sides & 7’s events on the Wapiti calendar this summer.
Cookout In the Park
After practice is over all parents & players are invited to join in the cookout.
Want to help out? We can always use these things.

Wapiti Photo Day Part II
Did your child miss photo day last weekend, or did they forget their jersey? Have no fear. U-7 coach (and photographer) Vincent Johnson, will be back taking photos again. You can view photos from last week here, but make sure to check your email in box for details, as the gallery is password protected. He’s even designed a special faux magazine cover so you can add your own child’s photo.
Parents vs. Kids Match
Parents, don’t eat to much, as it wouldn’t be a Wapiti season ending cookout without a scrimmage between the parents & players.
Three cheers for everyone who has given their support to the club & its players this season.
