Wapiti RFC Headed To State Championship

Possible Title Match for 7th/8th grade squad

Wapiti’s 7th/8th grade squad will be on the pitch for a shot at the Illinois Youth Rugby Association’s Middle School Senior state title on Sunday June 1st, 2014.

The games kickoff at 9am at Sportscore Two (Wedgbury Stadium & adjacent fields) just outside of Rockford, located at 8800 E. Riverside Blvd, Loves Park. Tickets are $10 (or $5 with a donated canned good at the gate). You can find out more information on the iYRA’s event page.

Also, a special thanks to the Rockford Ravens RFC, who are the local men’s club who are the host team for the championships.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this post stated that the 5th/6th squad would have a chance at a Middle School Junior’s state title. While the team will be playing as well, there is no placements for MS jrs.


Chicago North Shore in USA Rugby Club National Championship in Madison, WI. May 31st

Want to make it a real rugger weekend? Make your way up to Madison Wisconsin on Saturday May 31st, to see the USA Rugby Club National Championship this weekend. The first match, Men’s Division III final starts at 10am and the last match, the Men’s Division I final starts at 7pm.

On a special note for Wapiti fans, the Women’s division I match at 4:45pm will feature our very own Chicago North Shore vs. Oregon Sports Union of Portland, OR. Some of you may remember the team came out and volunteered to help coach at our first practice this season and a few players have made it back since. If you’re staying in the Rockford area the day before the Wapiti state finals, it’s a short drive to Madison to show your support for the team and rugby in America as well.

Normal Practice for other age groups

Practice for all age groups beside the 5th through 8th grade players, will take place as normal at Revere Park.
